Baltimore police called for assault, find two injured dogs

Baltimore police found two injured dogs Sunday morning after being called to a home in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood for an alleged assault.

Police responded to a report of an assault in the 1800 block of Westwood Ave. at about 8 a.m. Sunday, police said. Officers found a woman who had been assaulted, as well as two injured dogs. The suspect was not at the location, police said.

The dogs were alive but injured, police said, and animal control was called.

Police have opened two investigations — one into the assault, and the second into how and by whom the dogs were injured, police said.
