Woman found dead in vacant building, teenager shot overnight Sunday, Baltimore Police say

A woman was found dead inside a vacant building and a teenager was shot in separate incidents Sunday, Baltimore Police said.

Around 12:29 a.m., officers responded to an area hospital where a shooting victim walked in seeking treatment. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right thigh, police said.

The boy told police he was walking on McElderry Street at North Curley Street in the Elwood Park neighborhood of East Baltimore when he heard gunshots. He quickly realized he had been shot and got a ride to the hospital, police said.

In a separate incident, officers responded to the 2600 block of E. Monument St. in the McElderry Park neighborhood of East Baltimore around 4:47 p.m. An unidentified woman was found inside a vacant building unresponsive with “obvious” signs of trauma to her head, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene by medics.

Police also disclosed a second recent homicide case in which a body was found in a vacant home. Someone checking the home in the 1800 block of E. Lafayette St. in Broadway East on Nov. 3 found the body of a man in the bathtub. Police said that an autopsy confirmed that the man had suffered a fractured skull.

A spokesman said the victim’s identity remains unknown.

Homicide detectives are investigating the killings and are asking anyone with information to call 410-396-2100.
