21-year-old man killed Saturday night in Southwest Baltimore

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday night in Southwest Baltimore, police said.

The shooting took place in the 4100 block of Frederick Ave., a commercial strip in the Irvington neighborhood, at around 8:05 p.m. No other details were available.

The Southwestern District led all of the city’s nine police districts in homicides last year. Saturday’s killing was the first reported this year in the district.

Homicide detectives were asking for tips at 410-396-2100.

Police reported earlier Saturday that they were investigating the non-fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man Friday night in Southeast Baltimore.

Officers were called around 9 p.m. to the shooting in the 3500 block of E. Lombard St., just north of Highlandtown. The man was shot in the wrist and hospitalized.
