Officer injured, apparently trying to break up a fight among youths in Northeast Baltimore

Two teens were arrested Thursday afternoon after police said an officer was struck while trying to break up a fight involving a group of young people in Northeast Baltimore.

A female officer was parked in the parking lot of a shopping center in the 5000 block of Sinclair Lane just before 3 p.m. when an apparent scuffle broke out, “which prompted [the officer] to exit her vehicle,” according to an internal department summary of the incident obtained by The Baltimore Sun.

When the officer attempted “to break up a fight between two of the juveniles, she was hit in the face,” and she sustained minor injuries, the department said later in a statement.

Police said two juveniles were arrested by other officers who were called to the scene.

The case remains under investigation.
