Detectives with the Baltimore Police Department are investigating a shooting in the 2700 block of Greenmount Avenue on Memorial Day afternoon.
Police did not provide the victim’s age or specify whether he was an adult or juvenile, referring to him as an “unknown male” who was shot in the arm and shoulder around 2:50 p.m.
He was taken to the hospital, but police said “his condition is unknown at this time.”
The shooting marks the latest incident in a violent holiday weekend in Baltimore. Including Monday’s violence, four people were killed and an additional four people were injured, including several teens.
Speaking at the scene of a shooting in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor that killed one teen and left another teenager injured, Commissioner Michael Harrison expressed frustration at young people “having total disregard for human life and total lack of respect for law enforcement.”
In his remarks Harrison mentioned that 20 Baltimore police officers were in the Inner Harbor area when the shooting unfolded, part of a weekend deployment strategy set to continue through Monday.
