Baltimore police: Man charged with murder in Central Park Heights shooting

Baltimore police say they have charged a 25-year-old man with first-degree murder in relation to a fatal shooting in the Central Park Heights neighborhood last month.

The department wrote in a news release that Jaqwaun Owens, 25, of Baltimore, has been charged with the shooting death of 40-year-old Justin Bucalo, who died after being shot in Northwest Baltimore on Feb. 18.

On that day, officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Queensberry Ave. at 12:17 p.m. to investigate a reported shooting and found Bucalo suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics declared him dead at the scene, police said.

Police wrote Monday that Owens was arrested while in the 3900 block of Dolfield Avenue and charged with murdering Bucalo.

It is unclear if Owens has retained an attorney as online court records have not been updated to reflect his first-degree murder charge.
