Man shot to death in Carrollton Ridge ID’d, Baltimore Police say; another shot in Loch Raven neighborhood

A 36-year-old man was pronounced dead after being shot in the city’s Carrollton Ridge neighborhood Sunday afternoon, police said in a news release.

On Monday, police identified Michael Alston as the man who was fatally shot in Southwest Baltimore.

Officers responded to the shooting around 1:46 p.m. in the 2000 block of Ramsay St. where they found Alston suffering from gunshot wounds.

Alston was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Homicide detectives were summoned to the scene and assumed control over the investigation.

Nearly eight hours later, at about 9:22 p.m., Northeast District patrol officers were dispatched to an area hospital to investigate a walk-in shooting victim seeking treatment.

When officers arrived at the hospital they observed a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.

Northeast District shooting detectives were summoned to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Investigators learned that the victim was shot in the 5700 block of Beechdale Avenue in the Loch Raven neighborhood.

Baltimore has totaled 146 homicides this year compared to 141 killings at this same time last year, according to Baltimore police data.
