Man fatally shot in West Baltimore, police say

A 28-year-old man was shot to death in West Baltimore Monday night, Baltimore police said.

Police officers responded around 11:36 p.m. to the 3400 block of Clifton Ave. to investigate a ShotSpotter gunshot detection alert, the department said.

While searching the area, police said officers found the 28-year-old wounded by gunshots in an alley in the 3400 block of Elgin Ave.

Police said medics pronounced the man dead at the scene, which is close to the border of the Mount Holly and Walbrook neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, homicide detectives took over the investigation, police said.

The man’s death brings Baltimore to 19 homicides in this year, a figure slightly lower than the 23 reported on the same date in 2020, according to a police department count.

The department urges anyone who knows about the fatal shooting Monday to call detectives at 410-396-2100. If someone has information but wishes to remain anonymous, they can call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
