18-year-old fatally shot in South Baltimore, police say

An 18-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday morning in South Baltimore, according to Baltimore police.

Southwest District patrol officers responded to the shooting at 12:02 a.m. in the 2400 block of Tolley St., according to police.

As officers were canvassing the scene they were notified of a walk-in shooting victim at an area hospital.

Riyad Campbell was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. Despite medical efforts, Campbell was pronounced dead by doctors at the hospital, according to police.

Just an hour and a half later, Southwest District patrol officers responded to another shooting around 1:40 a.m. at an area hospital.

A 28-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg. Preliminary investigation information shows the victim was shot in the 3100 block of McElderry St., according to police.

Southeast District detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2422 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

Baltimore police identified four other homicide victims who were all killed over the course of four days this month.

Stephen Sanders, 38, was shot and killed on Wednesday in the 3000 block of Oakley Ave. Two days later, Corey Augustus, 33, was shot and killed on Friday in the 3600 block of 5th St., according to police.

That same day, Shannon Barmer, 22, was shot and killed in the 1900 block of East Oliver St., according to police.

There have been 69 homicides this year-to-date compared to 70 killings at this time last year, according to Baltimore police homicide totals.
