Baltimore police on Wednesday identified a man charged with shooting his father inside the New Song Worship & Arts Center during a post-funeral meal to honor his brother.
Antonio Addison, 25, of the 1600 block of Walterswood Road, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault and related charges, for shooting his 47-year-old father in the stomach Tuesday, police said.
Family and friends had gathered at the church on Calhoun Street for a meal to remember Addison's brother, Antonio Addison, a 22-year-old gunned down in West Baltimore last month.
A police spokeswoman said the brothers share the same name.
Police said the older Addison and his father got into an argument over an obituary written by a family member for the younger Addison brother. The older brother's name was omitted, his grandfather, Charles Addison told The Baltimore Sun on Tuesday.
The father remains in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries, police said. Addison is currently being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility.
Antonio Addison's face appeared swollen and bruised in a mug shot released by the department. Police said his injuries came from an altercation with family members after the shooting.
