A 29-year-old Baltimore man has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography after an anonymous tip prompted a months-long investigation by Baltimore Police.

William Silver, of the 4500 block of Green Rose Lane in the city's Orchard Ridge neighborhood, turned himself in on Monday after a warrant was issued for his arrest last week, police said.

Baltimore detectives assigned to the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force first received the tip in November 2015.

In March, they executed a search warrant at Silver's home and confiscated several electronic devices, which turned out to contain hundreds of images and videos of children engaged in sexual acts, police said.

Silver now faces one count of distributing child pornography and four counts of possession of child pornography, police said.

Silver surrendered at the Central District police station.

He was being processed at the Central Booking and Intake Facility on Monday, and did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
