A woman was found guilty Tuesday of attempting to cover up her boyfriend's role in a 2013 Cherry Hill murder, her lawyer said.
Judge John Addison Howard found Breyon Cason, 25, guilty of being an accessory after the fact and making a false police report, according to her lawyer, Mark Van Bavel.
The charges stem from an incident in May 2013 in which Rashaw Scott and his 1-year-old son, Carter, were shot in a car in a Cherry Hill housing complex. The child was killed.
Hours after Scott was pronounced dead, Cason tried to report her Toyota Solara as stolen, according to the charging papers in Cason's case. Police said that Eddie Tarver had used the car to flee from the scene of the crime, which Cason's boyfriend, Rashid Mayo, was involved in as well. Police accused Cason of trying to distance Mayo and her car from the murder, the document showed.
Van Bavel said Cason's sentencing has not been scheduled. He declined to comment on the verdict.
Mayo, Tarver, Dequan Shields, and Cornell Harvey received life sentences in connection with the shooting.
