Man injured in carjacking in North Baltimore Saturday

Two suspects armed with BB guns shot a man before taking off in his car near the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus early Saturday morning, according to an alert from university officials.

The victim was shot in the right shoulder and left arm after two suspects approached him as he was getting into his car at about 2:40 a.m. in the 200 block of E. University Parkway between Calvert Street and Guilford Avenue in the Oakenshawe neighborhood, according to the campus alert.

The two suspects knocked on the window of his car, displayed handguns and demanded him to exit, and then one shot him, the alert said.

The suspects were last seen traveling west in the 100 block of W. University Parkway. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

Carjackings in Baltimore have more than tripled since 2013, and the number has continued to climb in the first weeks of 2017, at a rate that has far outpaced other auto thefts.

The suspects are described as black males between 16 and 20 years old. One is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and wore a green shirt and khaki pants. The other suspect is about 6 feet tall and wore a dark sweatshirt. Both were armed with dark BB handguns.

The vehicle is described as a blueish-gray, 2003 Honda Accord with a Maryland tag, 5BXY65.
