Shots were fired down a Canton street on Monday night as a woman fled a home invasion, police confirmed.
The incident occurred around midnight in the 700 block of S. Rose Street. Police said a masked suspect entered a home in the block, displayed a gun, and demanded money and drugs.
The suspect struck the victim with the weapon, but she was able to flee from the home. Southeastern District Capt. George Clinedinst told residents that shots were fired down the street, none of which hit the victim but one of which grazed her dog, police said.
The suspect fled on foot, and police said they did not have a good description.
Police spokesman T.J. Smith said detectives were gathering information but there was no forced entry and the attack appeared to be a "targeted incident."
