Man robs Baltimore driver of taxi then wrecks near Clifton Park

A 22-year-old man robbed a taxi driver of a cab, drove off and wrecked Tuesday afternoon near Clifton Park in Northeast Baltimore, police said.

The robber was thrown out and trapped beneath the taxi. He was hospitalized and will be identified once he's charged, police said. Police did not provide the man's condition.

Shortly before 5 p.m., an officer was directed to a fight on the 3200 block of Belair Rd. in Clifton Park, police said. The robber was fighting the taxi driver, police said.

The 22-year-old took the cab and drove off, heading south on Belair Road, causing several cars to crash and continuing on. He lost control, spun 360 degrees and came to rest against a tree, police said. Officers found the robber pinned beneath the car.
