Six teenagers have been arrested in the recent spree of "bump and run" car thefts throughout the city, police said.
Last week, Police Commissioner Kevin Davis convened a task force to investigate the thefts in which a driver is bumped by another car. When the driver pulls over, the car is stolen.
On Monday, police announced the arrests:
Barry Diggs, 18, is charged with auto theft and related theft charges. Jaquan Bennet, 17, is charged as an adult with armed robbery, handgun violations, assault and related charges. Jasmine Gerald, 19, is charged with theft and robbery. Kenyawn Megginson, 19, is charged with robbery, auto theft and related charges.
Two 16-year-old boys were also arrested. Police did not identify these boys.
Since the arrests, there have been no more reports of bump-and-run thefts, police said.
