42-year-old fatally shot, another man killed in double shooting as Baltimore approaches 300 homicide mark

A man was fatally shot Thursday night and another was killed in a double shooting Friday morning, Baltimore police said, inching the city closer to the 300th homicide of the year.

Police said a 42-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday in the Belair-Edison neighborhood just before 10 p.m.

Police found the man, identified as Daniel Battle, with gunshot wounds in a parking lot in the 2800 block of Pelham Avenue, where he lived. Battle was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he later died, according to police.

On Friday, around 11 a.m., police responded to the 1200 block of Bond St. in East Baltimore’s Oliver neighborhood for a report of a shooting. Officers found an unresponsive man and a 26-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Medics pronounced the unresponsive man dead at the scene. Police did not release his age, nor either victims’ names.

Baltimore now has 297 homicides in 2018.
