Baltimore police and a team that included FBI agents arrested a man wanted in connection with more than a dozen commercial armed robberies after a four-hour standoff in East Baltimore Wednesday.
Kieran Williams, 42, is believed to be responsible for 14 armed robberies in the Baltimore area since early August, hitting RadioShacks, GameStops, Petcos and other businesses and demanding money from clerks at gunpoint, according to the FBI's Baltimore field office, which called him a "serial commercial robber." Charges for him have not yet appeared in online court records and it cannot be determined whether he has obtained an attorney.
Baltimore police closed off part of an East Baltimore neighborhood for hours Wednesday afternoon and evening as they attempted to coax Williams out of a home in the 1400 block of N. Potomac St. Williams was arrested at about 8 p.m., and no one was injured in the incident, police said.
The standoff blocked off several blocks of homes in the neighborhood, with residents waiting on the perimeter to return home. One 47-year-old woman who declined to give her name said her grandchild was stuck at a daycare center within the perimeter.
The FBI said its Violent Crimes Task Force paid a reward to a tipster who saw coverage of the wanted suspect on the news.
