A Reisterstown man was arrested and charged with shooting one woman and assaulting another during a robbery in West Baltimore last month.
Christopher Heyward, 30, of Brampton Court, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, robbery and related charges.
The women were in the 1100 block of W. Lafayette Avenue in Sandtown-Winchester around 3 a.m. when Heyward had attempted to rob and assault them, police said.
According to charging documents, Heyward pistol whipped a 26-year-old woman outside her home, and announced he was going to rob her and the two other women with her. The 26-year-old woman handed the suspect her handbag, and ran and got into a Kia with the other women. When they attempted to drive off, police said Heyward fired shots at the car, striking a 24-year-old woman sitting in the passenger seat in the head.
The driver continued to flee the scene toward a hospital when she crashed the car into a wall in the 100 block of W. Mulberry St. A third woman, whose age was not listed in the document, was found by officers in the back seat, bleeding from the head.
The women were taken to a hospital and have recovered from their injuries, police said.
Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested Heyward on Monday. He is being held at Central Booking without bail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
