National Aquarium employee cut, robbed on way to work

An employee at the National Aquarium in Baltimore was cut and robbed on his way to work Tuesday morning, police said Wednesday.

The victim had parked his vehicle and was approached at 7:20 a.m. by an unknown man who announced a robbery at High and Pratt streets, police said.

He told the suspect that he had nothing on him, and a physical struggle ensued, during which the suspect cut the man across the outside of his wrist, police said.

While the victim was on the ground, the suspect stole belongings from his pockets, police spokesman Lt. Jarron Jackson said.

"It was pretty brazen and heartless that after the cutting, the suspect went into the victim's pockets and took his property," Jackson said. "We're talking about somebody who was just walking to work."

Police did not identify the victim or release a suspect description. Anyone with information may call the Police Department's Southeastern District at 410-396-2422.

Aquarium officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.
