Boys, ages 13 and 15, charged with setting cat on fire in Northeast Baltimore

Two teenage boys have been arrested and charged as juveniles after assaulting a cat and setting it on fire last month in Northeast Baltimore, city police said.

The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 5100 block of Harford Road. Animal Control was called to the scene, where the animal was pronounced dead, Baltimore Police said Thursday.

Baltimore Police spokesman Chief T.J. Smith said two boys, ages 13 and 15, were charged.

A surveillance camera in the area captured the assault, and police released stills from the video depicting five individuals.

Smith said investigators are still trying to identify the other three suspects in the video.
