A 1-year-old boy was fatally shot Friday in the early evening in Baltimore's Cherry Hill neighborhood and an adult man was injured when at least one gunman opened fire on the car in which the victims were riding.
The child was pronounced dead at 8:26 p.m. Friday, according to Baltimore Police Detective Angela Carter-Watson. The man was listed in critical condition and was being treated at an area hospital.
Carter-Watson said that "a person of interest" was being questioned by homicide detectives, but said that no one has been arrested.
Shortly after the shooting at 7:05 p.m., a large area spanning 1100 to 1700 Cherry Hill Road, as well as the 2700 block of Winchester St. was cordoned off while police combed the surrounding neighborhood searching for suspects. Carter-Watson said that a pursuit of some manner may have preceded the shooting.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 410-396-2100.
