Police: Animal abuse related to fire in Northeast Baltimore

Baltimore Police are investigating a case of suspected animal abuse in the 6800 block of Hamlet Avenue in Northeast Baltimore, police said.

Officers responded to a fire call around 12:30 a.m. on July 27. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters told police that they found a bag containing a dead dog at the location.

An unknown suspect or suspects put the dog in the bag, before lighting it on fire, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Animal Abuse Unit at 410-396-2400.
