THEN: City schools students were met by lines of armored police at the transit hub outside Mondawmin Mall on April 27, the day of Freddie Gray’s funeral, after a flier circulated on social media threatening a mass school walkout and a “Purge,” or 12-hour period of lawlessness. The ensuing clash erupted into a riot, with hundreds of people and police officers injured and businesses looted and destroyed.

NOW: The daily afternoon rush, much of it made up of students who use the public transportation hub to get from Mondawmin-area schools to their neighborhoods, has cleared on a recent afternoon.
