A 31-year-old woman pleaded guilty on Friday to first-degree murder for enlisting the help of her brother to kill her husband in May of 2010. The killing occurred outside the Hops Inn, which the victim owned on Railroad Avenue in eastern Baltimore County.
It was one of two murder-for-hire cases that year. Two months earlier, five people were arrested as participants in plot against a gas station owner. Baltimore prosecutors said they are seeking 60 years in prison for Jaclyn J. Martin, who was shot eight times with a .22 caliber handgun.
Martin's brother, Robert M. Garner, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in November and is awaiting sentencing. Two other men have been convicted for their roles in the crime. Martin told police that her husband had abused her.
