A Harford County man faces charges after being arrested and charged with shooting a semi-automatic handgun at a motorist on I-95 on Wednesday. Nicholas Heider, 34, of Joppa, was charged with using a firearm in a violent crime, assault and reckless endangerment.
The case of road-rage occurred about 4 p.m. when a motorist called 911 to report that another driver had fired up to three shots at his vehicle. Both were traveling north on the highway near the exit for Route 152.
Police said the two drivers were arguing (through gestures) for several miles over who had the right of way. The two driver were cutting each other off as they drove north, according to Maryland State Police.
The caller gave police a license plate number and his GMC Sport Utility Vehicle was tracked to a house in Harford County. A trooper from the Bel Air Barracks called the house and police said the man came out. Police said they found a handgun in the house.
Heider was being held on $50,000 bail in the Harford County Detention Center. Read the statement from Maryland State Police.
