Police make handgun arrest at Horseshoe Casino

Baltimore Police say a convicted felon was arrested Monday night after a valet driver at the Horseshoe Casino reported a handgun sitting on the passenger seat of his vehicle.

The casino's security flagged down police and said a gun, later determined to be a stolen and loaded .38 Special revolver, was sitting in plain view of a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am left with the valet, police wrote in an incident report.

The owner of the car was located on the second floor using the casino's rewards program, according to the report, and he and his companion were taken to the Southern District for questioning.

Police said the gun was loaded with hollowpoint rounds, and a check of its serial number showed it had been reported stolen from Fluvanna County, Va. in 2007.

Court records show one of the men, a 56-year-old from Hyattsville, was charged with firearm possession with a felony conviction, having a handgun in a vehicle, and possessing a stolen firearm. He was charged and being held at Central Booking on $50,000 bond, records show.

The other man, a 75-year-old from Bladensburg, was also arrested on the same charges and was benig held on $60,000 bond, records show.

Police said in an incident report that they were unable to contact the registered owner of the Grand Am and it was towed to the city tow yard.
