The saga of the Annie McCann story continues more than three years after the body of the 16-year-old from Virginia was found behind a trash in in Southeast Baltimore. The parents held a news conference on Thursday to announce a new lead in the case and to say the state lost her organs after the autopsy.
Daniel and Mary Jane McCann continued to blast the city police, now over what they say is the muzzling of a new homicide commander who heard them out and then, according to the parents, stopped returning their calls. Police say they've bent over backwards to accommodate the grieving parents but to no avail.
Here is the latest back and forth over the case.
I'll be writing more about a dispute the McCanns have with the city police over a sketch of a woman who the parents say was seen with their daughter the day before her body was found. Meanwhile, here is a statement from the McCann family they released on Thursday, edited slightly to note that one man mentioned has been charged with a crime, but not convicted. It's followed by a letter sent to the McCanns by the commander of the Baltimore homicide unit.
