Frederick County authorities are expected to provide details Tuesday about why a Middletown man killed his wife and three young children and then turned a gun on himself.
Funeral arrangements have also been set for the family found dead in their home Saturday. The county sheriff's office plans to release autopsy results and detail why and how Christopher A. Wood, 34, killed his wife, Francis Billotti-Wood, 33, and their three children, Chandler, 5, Gavin, 4, and Fiona, 2, before shooting himself.
Police have said the two pajama-clad boys were found in the beds in their shared room, while their mother and sister were found in the master bedroom. Each had been severely cut and shot once with a handgun, authorities said. Wood was found at the foot of the master bed, apparently killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Wood left five suicide notes scattered about the house, with at least one saying he had been taking medication for psychological problems, authorities said. Investigators were also exploring whether financial problems or a recent move and job change might have been weighing on his mind, authorities said.
Visitation for the family will be at Holy Family Catholic Community parish Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Friday ; at 11 a.m., with internment to follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. The services are for family, friends and parishioners, church officials said.
