A 24-year-old Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with robbing and shooting a cab driver in Remington early Sunday, police said.
Police said Maurice Turner, who in 2008 was sentenced to a 30-year prison term, and a second man robbed and shot a 30-year-old cab driver early Sunday after he pulled into a parking lot in the 2700 block of Sisson St. The suspects demanded money, shot the driver in the back and fled with an unknown amount of money, police said.
The driver flagged down a passerby and was taken to an area hospital around 1:30 a.m., which is when police became aware of the incident.
Police said only that Turner was identified through information from witnesses. He was to be charged with attempted murder, robbery and handgun violations, they said.
It's not the first time Turner has been charged with attempted murder. He was arrested in May 2007 after police said he ran from a shooting at Park Heights Avenue and Cold Spring Lane. One of the victims told the first officer who arrived that the gunman was wearing a pink shirt. Police said the man they chased threw a gun and a pink shirt into some brush.
