A Johns Hopkins student was robbed at knifepoint Sunday morning while walking alone in Charles Village, according to university security.
A campus security alert says the victim, an undergraduate, was walking southbound in the 2500 block of Maryland Ave. at around 10:40 a.m. when a man emerged from an alley with a knife.
She handed him her purse and an iPhone, and the suspect told her to walk toward Howard Street as he fled. The victim was uninjured.
The alert says the suspect, described as a black man in his 20s, about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, and wearing a black zip-up jacket, is believed to be involved in "other similar occurences in the vicinity."
City crime data posted to the OpenBaltimore website shows there have been at least seven other robberies in Charles Village this year, six of which occurred in January. The data has not been updated since Feb. 21, however.
