The recent guilty plea of a man accused of being part of the far-reaching South Side Brims Bloods gang reveals an Eastern Shore meeting between members of at least three gangs - a reminder that while gangs and drug organizations make news for warring over turf and debts, they also sometimes work together.
The meeting, according to the plea agreement, took place inQueen Anne's Countyin 2008 and included members of the Latin Kings, the Thunderguards (characterzied as an "outlaw motorcycle club"), and "various Bloods sets." It ended with gunfire, and Guy took responsibility for blasting a shotgun at two Latin Kings members.
As a refresher, the South Side Brims case was indicted last year with prosecutors alleging a racketeering conspiracy stretching from Western Maryland to the Eastern Shore and including Baltimore suburbs. Thirty-five people were charged in the case and have begun pleading guilty in recent months.

"On April 6, 2008 in the early morning hours, the defendant and others attended a gathering at the Thunderguards Headquarters in Pond Town, Md. During the course of that gathering disagreements broke out between persons from different gangs. Present at the time were persons affiliated with Latin Kings, Thunderguards, and a few different Bloods sets. During the course of these disagreements, the defendant (Dontell Lamont Guy) discharged a firearm, that is a shotgun, in the direction of two Latin Kings. The blast missed them but hit a nearby vehicle."
