A man was fatally shot Wednesday night in West Baltimore's Walbrook neighborhood, a day after a second victim in a double shooting, also in West Baltimore, died from his wounds. The shootings bring to three the number of people killed in the city since Monday -- ages 17, 19 and 21.

Meanwhile, the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office announced that a convicted felon was sentenced to 15 years in prison for illegally posessing a gun and ammunition. Authorities said that Eric Johnson, 44, was stopped in his car by Baltimore police on April 13, 2010, in the 4400 block of Reisterstown Road, for a traffic infraction.
Officer smelled marijuana and arrested Johnson after finding two bags of pot in his mouth, according to prosecutors. Authorities said Johnson told police that he had a revolver wrapped in duct tape in his home, and he allowed police to search. The officers said they found the gun along with 45 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition. Prosecutors said Johnson had previously been convicted of illegally possessing a firearm.
On the Eastern Shore, federal prosecutors said a New Jersey man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after Maryland State Police stopped his rental car speeding on Route 113 in Worcester County. Police said they searched his car and found a bag under the passenger seat with 327 grams of cocaine.
The man, Timothy Wilson, 43, of Toms River, was convicted in U.S. District Court in Baltimore after a week-long trial. Another person in the car, Luis Ahorrio, 37, of Queens, New York, also has been convicted on drug charges and faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced March 15.
