Police said a Honda S2000 was driving south when the driver lost control and crossed into the northbound lane, which is when a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban struck the Honda.

The Chevrolet became engulfed in flames, police said, and the 55-year-old driver, Donald Joe Callahan, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center with serious injuries. The 54-year-old passenger, Lisa Annette Callahan, was taken to Shock Trauma with serious injuries. Both are from Harmans.

Both the Honda driver, David Blaine Wolcott and passenger, Heather Lyn Wolcott, died at the scene. An autopsy will be performed, police said.

The preliminary cause of the crash is said to be “failing to drive right of center,” police said. It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved, but toxicology results will be taken.
