After arranging to sell his professional tattoo kit, a male was robbed of it and his smartphone at gunpoint Wednesday night in Glen Burnie by the prospective purchasers, Anne Arundel County police said.

Officers responded to the 100 block of 5th Avenue around 9:30 p.m. for reports of a robbery, a department spokesperson wrote in a statement. They responded to find the uninjured male, who said he’d been robbed at gunpoint.

The victim told officers he arranged to meet a woman he did not know after listing his professional tattoo kit for sale on a social media, police said.

When they met, police said the male told officers, the woman asked him to get in her car to drive to an ATM so that she could get cash to complete the transaction they’d agreed upon.

He got in the car and, instead of driving to the ATM, the woman drove to a parking lot, police said the male told officers. A man got into the vehicle and the woman brandished a handgun.

The man took the tattoo equipment and the victim’s iPhone 8 as the woman held the handgun, police said the male told officers.

Then, police said the victim told officers, he was dropped off and the suspects fled in the car.

Police said officers canvassed the area.

Detectives are searching for the two suspects, whom they described as a white woman with a thin build estimated to be between 20 and 22 years old and a black man estimated to be about 6-feet tall and between 20 and 23 years old.

Police officials encourage anyone with information about the suspects or the incident to contact detectives with the department’s Northern District Station at 410-222-6135 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

The department also urges those in the community to employ safe e-commerce practices. The lobbies of all county police stations are designated as “Safe Transactions Zones.”

Lobbies of the district police stations are open for business 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while the lobby of the Anne Arundel County Police Department Headquarters in Millersville is open for such transactions from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the week.

The county’s Northern District Station is located at 939 Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn Park. Citizens can find the Western District Station at 8273 Telegraph Road in Odenton.

The Eastern District Station is located at 204 Pasadena Road in Pasadena, and the Southern District Station is located at 35 Stepneys Lane in Edgewater.
