A 19-year-old man from Silver Spring who was shot early Thursday morning in Odenton has died, Anne Arundel County police said.
Oluwatomisi Temidire Adeleke, of the 14000 block of Castle Boulevard, died at shock trauma in Baltimore, police said.
Police officers responded around 12:45 a.m. Thursday to the 700 block of Hammond Branch Drive after someone called 911 to report a shooting in a parking lot.
At the scene, officers found Adeleke suffering from a single gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers rendered medical aid until paramedics could take over.
Adeleke was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in critical condition, where police said he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Because of the seriousness of the 19-year-old’s injuries, homicide detectives were dispatched to investigate.
As Adeleke was being treated, police said detectives canvassed the area where he was shot.
Police said evidence suggests Adeleke’s death was a homicide, though investigators are awaiting the findings of an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to establish the exact cause and manner of death.
