Police believe the suspect, who fled the area in a dark sedan, and the victim were “familiar with one another.” Neither have been named.

While Wednesday’s shooting took place near a shopping center, no other injuries were reported. As homicide detectives were conducting their investigation, the nearby businesses, including a Walmart and a Sam’s Club, were open to the public.

Wednesday’s is the third homicide reported in Anne Arundel County this year.

On Jan. 22, 18-year-old Reco Ramon Johnson was found dead by Annapolis Police in the Woodside Gardens community. Suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest, he was declared dead at the scene.

Three days later, on Jan. 25, Odenton resident Markus Nocho, 26, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a Taco Bell in Hanover. Nocho was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead.

Less than 24 hours later, police arrested Alexander Vaughan Williams, 34, of Severn in connection to the killing. He’s been charged with 13 counts, including first- and second-degree murder, and is being held without bond.
