Man raids safe at Governor Calvert House after holding employee at gunpoint, Annapolis police say

An armed man raided a safe at Governor Calvert House after holding an employee at gunpoint Thursday afternoon, Annapolis police said.

Police said the armed robbery occurred around 5 p.m.

A man walked into the business on State Circle, grabbed a female employee from behind and brandished a handgun, police said.

Police said the man demanded to go to the safe and the employee complied. He took money from the safe.

The man made the employee lay on the floor and fled on foot, police said.

Cpl. Dave Stokes, a police department spokesperson, said the employee was not injured.

A police K-9 unit responded to the scene to track, police said. A dog attempted to track the suspect’s scent.

Detectives are investigating the robbery.

Stokes said no more information was available Monday morning.
