Doris M. Jones, a retired social worker's aide and longtime West Baltimore resident, died June 11 of lung cancer at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She was 73.
The daughter of Leon Alexander Clark Sr., a truck driver, and Goldie Olivia Clark, a homemaker, Doris Marion Clark was born and raised in West Baltimore, where she spent her entire life.
She attended city public schools and worked for more than 20 years for the state Department of Social Services as a social worker's aide. She retired in 1985.
Mrs. Jones was an active member, along with her children and other family members, of the Cheyenne Debs, a social club.
"She was so fond to be a part of that club and always talked about her friends and their accomplishments fondly," said a son, Curtis Clark of Randallstown.
She was a former member of Emmanuel Christian Community Church on West Lanvale Street.
Her husband, Robert Jones, died some years ago.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wylie Funeral Home, 701 N. Mount St.
In addition to her son, Mrs. Jones is survived by another son, Deltin Clark of Baltimore; a daughter, Renee Clark White of Baltimore; a brother, Waverly Clark of Baltimore; six sisters, Catherine Clinton, Maria Clark, Renee Clark, Denise Clark, Linda Clark and Leona Clark, all of Baltimore; her longtime companion, Jerome Lumpkins of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
