Full coverage: Mayor Pugh's 'Healthy Holly' books, UMMS board deals

Fifth Week (June 25 & 27)

This week I continued work on the unclaimed property database project. We now have a fully functioning searchable database that can be used to locate property based on several user-entered data fields.

I worked to deisgn the interface so that it was a little more user-friendly and had a clean and minimalist presentation. We created several search examples to help users understand the most effective methods of searching the database and we fine-tuned the wording to better explain what unclaimed property is and why people should be interested.

I also had the chance to work with Dana on the re-design of the food trucks app. We worked on the layout of the page and focused on the responsive aspects of the design. The popular app should be finished and ready to re-launch sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Next week I will be finishing up the unclaimed property database and writing a blog post to go with it. I don't have much longer at The Baltimore Sun, but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I have learned an immense amount thanks to the talented people that have been kind enough to teach me. I will take a lot away from this internship and I feel that I am better prepared for a job in the media industry.
