Friday forecast: Cloudy, high near 49

The National Weather Service is calling for Friday to be cloudy in the Baltimore area, with a high near 49 and winds becoming southerly around 5 miles per hour.

Friday night is expected to be cloudy, with rain likely before 1 a.m., then rain and snow likely. Rain will change to snow overnight as colder air moves into the region. Light snowfall accumulations likely will be limited to the northern and western suburbs of Baltimore. The low temperature will be around 35, and winds will become northerly around 5 miles per hour. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Snow accumulation of less than half an inch is possible.

Saturday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with rain likely before 3 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. The high temperature will be near 44, with winds between 8 and 18 miles per hour, gusting as high as 29 miles per hour. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Saturday night is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a chance of snow, mainly before 9 p.m. The low temperature will be around 23, with northwest winds between 20 and 22 miles per hour. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
