Friday forecast: Partly sunny, breezy, high near 41

The National Weather Service is calling for Friday to be partly sunny in the Baltimore area, with a high near 41 degrees and breezy conditions. West winds between 20 and 23 miles per hour are expected, and gusts could be as high as 46 miles per hour.

A wind advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday for Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard and Montgomery counties. A gale warning is in effect for the tidal Potomac River and the Maryland Chesapeake Bay.

Friday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low temperature around 27 degrees and west winds between 11 and 15 miles per hour.

Baltimore has declared Code Blue cold weather alert for Friday, meaning emergency shelters will keep extended hours and workers will reach out to vulnerable residents.

Saturday's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 37 degrees. West winds between 13 and 15 miles per hour are expected.

Mostly cloudy skies and a low around 25 is expected for Saturday night. Northwest winds will be around 8 miles per hour.
