Man dies after burns suffered in one-alarm fire in Hampden

An unidentified man died Tuesday afternoon after sustaining second- and third-degree burns in a fire in Hampden, officials said.

The burns resulting from the one-alarm blaze in the 1000 block of Rectory Lane covered nearly 100 percent of the man's body, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the man and ultimately took him to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center, where he was pronounced dead, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The man's official caused of death will be determined by the state medical examiner.
