Butterflies at the Bridge

Where: Natural Bridge of Virginia, 15 Appledore Lane, Natural Bridge, Va.

When: Through November, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What: Butterflies at the Bridge is an indoor butterfly garden that allows visitors to get up close and personal with exotic species. The lush 1,800-square-foot setting features a reflecting pond, a 7-foot waterfall and a walkway lined with flourishing plants. The garden is included with admission to Natural Bridge.

Each week, hundreds of butterflies are added to the garden. Visitors can interact with such species as the South American blue morpho or the native yellow tiger swallowtails and watch butterflies transform and mature throughout their life cycles.

How much: $18, $10 for children ages 5-12. For a limited time, you can purchase a Natural Bridge and Caverns combo ticket and save $8 online. (Regular ticket prices for the combo are $28 for adults and $16 for children ages 5-12.)

What's nearby: The historic Natural Bridge Hotel is offering an $85 Summer Escape Package for two adults. It includes a one-night room stay, breakfast and admission to all the attractions. The hotel offers the same package for four guests for $125.
