Elizabeth S.E. Moran, a conservationist who earlier had been a businesswoman, died March 15 of lung cancer at her home in Greenville, Del. She was 55.
Born in Baltimore, the former Elizabeth Shepherdson Ellis was raised on St. George's Road in Roland Park.
She was a 1974 graduate of St. Paul' s School for Girls and earned a bachelor's degree in 1978 from Ithaca College. She earned a master's degree in information systems from the Johns Hopkins University.
She worked for the old First National Bank of Maryland from 1978 to 1982, and as a Price Waterhouse consultant from 1982 until her marriage in 1988.
Interested in conservation issues, Mrs. Moran founded 82North in 2004 whose mission is to facilitate efforts of nonprofit organizations.
She also served as a board member of the Delaware Nature Society and the Squam Lake Natural Science Center in Holderness, N.H. She had been a member of the Holderness, N.H., Conservation Commission.
Mrs. Moran had been treasurer of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of Delaware. She was a board member of the Garden Club of Wilmington and had served as co-chair of the 2001 Heart Ball and as a committee member of the Delaware Antique Show.
While living in Plymouth, N.H., Mrs. Moran, a women's lacrosse player, established a girls lacrosse program in the town. After returning to Wilmington in 2003, she coached for two years in the Wilmington Girls Lacrosse Program and coached middle school girls lacrosse at the Tatnall School in Greenville, Del.
She enjoyed vacationing at Squam Lake.
Mrs. Moran had been an active communicant of Christ Church Christiana Hundred, 505 E. Burk Road, Wilmington, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. April 1.
Surviving are her husband of 23 years, Frederick W. Moran, who is business manager of Harford Day School; a son, Patrick G. Moran, a student at the University of Delaware; a daughter, Margaret S. Moran, 17, a student at Tatnall School; her mother, Caroline Abell Coleman of North Baltimore; a brother, Timothy G. Ellis of Boone, Iowa; a sister, Amanda E. Washburne of Medfield, Mass.; a stepbrother, Randall C. Coleman III of Houston; and a stepsister, Cecelia M. Coleman of Washington.
