Mildred H. Boynton, homemaker, dies

Mildred H. Boynton, a homemaker who enjoyed vacationing on Nantucket, Mass., died Jan. 17 of pneumonia at the Broadmead retirement community in Cockeysville. She was 91.

Mildred Childs Hostetter was born in York, Pa., and raised in Oakwood, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School.

She was married in 1940 to John A. Boynton Sr., a businessman who died in 2006.

Mrs. Boynton was an active member of the Gunpowder Quaker Meeting.

"She was passionate about Nantucket Island, bird-watching, sports, peace and celebrating the blessings of this earth," said a son, John A. Boynton Jr. of Allison Park, Pa.

Mrs. Boynton and her husband established the John Boynton Scholarship Assistance Fund for Broadmead employees.

Plans for a memorial service to be held in the summer on Nantucket were incomplete.

Also surviving are another son, Andrew Boynton of Concord, Mass.; a sister, Libby Hazelett of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
