John Joseph Glister, a retired millwright and World War II veteran, died Jan. 6 from complications of Alzheimer's disease at Golden Living Center in Westminster. He was 93.
Mr. Glister was born and raised in Springfield, Mass., where he graduated from high school.
During World War II, he enlisted in the Army and served with the Rainbow Division in the European Theater. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of corporal.
He returned to his job as a millwright at Simond's Saw Steel Co. in Fitchburg, Mass. After his retirement in 1973, he settled in Westminster.
Mr. Glister enjoyed playing golf and shuffle board and spending winters at a second home he maintained in Tampa, Fla.
His wife of 60 years, the former Corinne Mae Laforge, died last year.
He was a communicant of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Westminster.
There are no services.
Surviving are a son, John Glister of Severna Park; a daughter, Janis Harget of Reisterstown; two brothers, Theodore Glister of Ludlow, Mass., and Edward Glister of Springfield, Mass.; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
