Attempted Dunkin' Donuts robber shot by shop owner

A man police believe tried to rob a Dunkin' Donuts on Laurel Fort Meade Road Tuesday morning is in serious condition at a Maryland hospital after the store's owner shot him in the lower body, Anne Arundel police said.

The robbery attempt occurred at about 3:30 a.m., said Lt. Glenn Shanahan, a police spokesman. A man described as the owner of the Dunkin' Donuts shot the man, who was taken to Prince George's County trauma hospital and is in serious condition, Shanahan said.

Shanahan said the man they believe tried to rob the store has not been charged.
