Michael L. Myers Sr., a retired pressman and avid Baltimore football fan, died Sunday of lung cancer at his apartment in Nottingham. He was 71.

Mr. Myers, the son of a construction worker and a homemaker, was born and raised in East Baltimore. He attended City College.

Mr. Myers dropped out after the 10th grade and began his career as an apprentice in printing at the Monumental Printing Co. in Hampden. He continued in the field working at various companies, including G.W. King Printing, until his retirement in the early '90s.

After retiring, he worked as a truck driver for the Pennock Co., a floral distribution company, where he enjoyed the long country drives and meeting people on his various routes.

Mr. Myers was also an avid Baltimore Colts fan and later became a Ravens fan.

His marriage to the former Phyllis Johns ended in divorce.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Tabernacle, 6008 Old Harford Road, Baltimore.

Mr. Myers is survived by four sons: Michael L. Myers Jr. of Parkville, David M. Myers of Hamilton, Jeffery G. Myers of Parkville and Timothy W. Myers of Hampden; five daughters: Sandra M. Shaeffer of Hampden, Karen T. Cook of Parkville, Kathleen B. Mort of Fallston, Jacqueline M. Sparaco of Pasadena, and Cynthia E. Becker of Hampden; four sisters: Catherine Bland of Norfolk, Va., Marie Ogle of Dundalk, Thelma Weichert or Parkville and Arlene Keller of Baltimore; 17 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
