Josephine M. Jones, a former income tax adviser and longtime Roland Park resident, died Aug. 11 of cancer at a Naples, Fla., nursing home. She was 86.
Josephine Meeth was born and raised in Baltimore. She was a 1942 graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School.
Mrs. Jones was also a 1971 graduate of the Johns Hopkins University, where she earned a bachelor's degree.
In the early 1950s, Mrs. Jones went to work at Industrial Bearings and Transmissions in Baltimore and rose to general manager.
She later was a manager at Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. and was a tax adviser at H&R Block until retiring in 2004.
The former Roland Park resident, who moved to Naples in 2005, was a cat fancier and volunteered at a local animal shelter.
She enjoyed reading, watching baseball, swimming and dancing.
Services were private.
Surviving are a son, Peter Jones of Naples, and a daughter, Sophia Howes of Fairfax, Va. Marriages to Peter Kaltschmidt and the late J. Carleton Jones, a Sunday Sun reporter, ended in divorce.
